Calum

Calum McRae

Chief Executive Officer

Calum joined us as a Sales Executive in 2013 after graduating from St Andrews University with an Economics degree. In 2018 he became Chief Executive and rebranded the company to Marzipan Media, to celebrate the original purpose of his grandfather starting the company: to help brands sell more of their products using music and advertising. He also launched a new ecommerce website and app which now delivers content in 16 countries to over 38 million people every year. In 2019 Calum was a finalist for RBS Entrepreneur Of The Year award. He has a varied taste in music from classical to metal, but his all-time favourite artist is Queen.

Heather

Heather McRae

Chief Financial Officer

Heather joined the team in 2006 after graduating from Lancaster University with a degree in Business Management, and has experience in many departments of Marzipan Media including studio programming, installations, operations and marketing. She became Chief Financial Officer in 2017 and can examine detail like no one else, especially when it comes to finance, legalities and copyright, and management of client rollouts. Heather’s favourite artists are Pink Floyd and Lukas Graham.

Debi

Debi Evans

Operations Manager

Debi joined the company straight out of school at the age of 16 and is usually the main point of contact to our 2000+ clients.  She is superb at building relationships with personnel in all departments including procurement, maintenance, marketing and IT, having been with our company since 1989. Debi ensures our operations run like a Swiss watch and her favourite band to listen to is The Script.

Fraser

Fraser Dougall

Head of Music Programming

Fraser joined the company in 1999 as a junior Studio Engineer.  He has since progressed to Head Programmer and is responsible for ensuring our company’s partners and their clients receive the right mix of music and media for their venues, as well as uploading new tracks to our database.  Fraser is passionate about music and, when not creating it himself, his life is sound-tracked by many genres including soul, funk, hip hop, jazz, reggae, punk, funk, ambient, electronic, classical, world music, and pop.

Dorothy

Dorothy McRae

Customer Services Manager

Dorothy joined the company in 1992 as an office secretary. Today, as Customer Services Manager, she is often the first person you will speak to when contacting us, and it is her responsibility to keep customers happy and coming back.  She is an amazing problem solver who is superb at building relationships with all departments, and is the main reason our client retention rate is 95.47% per annum. Dorothy’s favourite music genres include progressive rock and 70’s disco.

Gregor

Gregor Morton

Business Development Manager

Gregor joined Marzipan Media in 2019 as Business Development Manager and is responsible for closing new client contracts, as well as ensuring our existing clients have the best possible service for their venues. Prior to joining us he spent over 15 years as a Sales Manager for Volkswagen and knows how important it is to have excellent product knowledge and to provide a great customer experience. Gregor’s favourite bands include Snow Patrol and The Killers.

Michael

Michael Coyle

Technical Manager

Michael joined the company in 1993 on the Employment Training Scheme to help build our CD-based systems. He has since progressed to Technical Manager and is responsible for overseeing production of our media devices, submitting our copyright returns and managing the upload of new content to our database and to clients’ profiles. Michael has a wide music taste from Britpop to American Indie but his all-time favourite bands are Madness and New Model Army.

Finlay

Finlay McRae

Non-Executive Chairman

After graduating from Strathclyde University with a degree in mechanical engineering, Finlay co-founded Marzipan Media with his father Malcolm McRae. Finlay was Managing Director from 1976 to 2017 and is an innovative visionary, steering the company through four decades of economic and technological challenges. He has been an inspirational mentor to all of the Marzipan Media team, especially his children Heather and Calum, and retains the role of Non-Executive Chairman. Finlay’s favourite bands are The Eagles and Dire Straits.
